A little more about me …

Back in 1657, my ancestors set sail for the unknown shores of Old Perlican, Newfoundland and Labrador. We called this place home as we survived off the sea and land for over 400 hundred years. Our family has gone through many hardship and successes along the way, which has predisposed me to certain kind of inherited resilience. We remained in Old Perlican until the 1940’s when my Grandmother broke with tradition and decided to become a nurse. Having an iron will, my Grandmother climbed aboard a horse and sleigh to make a two-day trip to catch the “Newfie Bullet” (train) to St. John’s to begin her nursing school journey.

Growing up on the coast of an island in the North Atlantic Ocean provides a respect and appreciation for all that life encompasses. Living in Newfoundland and Labrador comes with the beauty of a utopian Leonard Cohen after-world - one that for me, equals the destruction that comes with living in the harsh conditions of a cold and unforgiving north Atlantic coastal community. My father always said, “people don’t live in Newfoundland for the weather.”

Many moons ago, I made the decision to break with tradition and create my own pathway to this beautiful thing we call, Life. I left the rain, drizzle and fog in search of new adventures. I traveled by train, plane, bus and car, crisscrossing Canada’s beautiful provinces and making many cities my temporary abodes. Returning to Newfoundland to visit family and tick off two degrees at Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), the open road called once again - it was time to scurry along to new horizons, thirsting for more knowledge and new experiences.

It was then when I met my wife, my world of fly by night slowly began to grow roots. In a blink, we now have a beautiful little girl to which the sun rises, shines and sets in our eyes. We live in Ottawa, the place where my wife and I met, and where we’ve established our family home.

I have not taken for granted where my journey has led me. As the saying goes, hindsight is always 20-20. I can clearly see why it was necessary to gain the experiences I did - to better understand what people can go through, what circumstances may bring, and more importantly, how I can help individuals, couples and families get back on track. The experiences I have collected during my coastal upbringing, my travels, my encounters with people from all walks of life, combined with my schooling and training as a therapist - all of these experiences have strengthened my foundation to be able to deeply understand human experiences, complex life circumstances, behaviours and emotions - I’m here to help you.

Get clarity. Feel better.

Get back to being your best self.
